Day 1: The guests will be collected from the hotel at 5:30 am and transported to the ghat to partake in a morning boat ride during the sunrise. At this time, numerous devotees can be observed bathing in the sacred waters. The ghats, which are an unbroken chain of stone steps stretching from one end of the city to the other, line the great river banks. It is believed that those who pass away in the river of life in Varanasi are liberated from the cycle of birth and death, making the site a sanctuary for the infirm and elderly who await their final days. The smoke emanating from the crematoriums on the river’s edge bears witness to their ultimate release from earthly constraints. The boat will dock at Manikarnika (Cremation) Ghat, where anywhere from a few dozen to a few hundred corpses are cremated daily, and the ghat is bustling with activity as the cremated bodies emit smoke and fire.
Afterward, the guests will return to the hotel for breakfast.
Following breakfast, the guests will visit Sarnath. Buddha chose Sarnath in Varanasi as the location for his first sermon, making it one of the most revered Buddhist sites. Sarnath is also associated with Jainism. There are numerous Buddhist monuments and structures at Sarnath, including the Dhamekha stupa, the Dharmarajika stupa, and the Chaukhandi stupa, as well as monasteries and temples representing various schools of Buddhism from Japan, China, Thailand, Burma, and other countries.
Overnight stay at Hotel.
Day 2: After Breakfast Subsequently, proceed to the river bank and venture into one of the oldest streets for a captivating walking tour. A guided stroll through Varanasi’s ancient streets, thousands of years old alleys, and holy temples will leave you spellbound. Immerse yourself in the sacred and oldest living culture of this ancient city by exploring these historic streets. This walk promises surprises at every turn and is
rich in insights and sights, offering numerous learning experiences. The Varanasi walk takes place in the Northern part of the Ghats and provides genuine insights into Varanasi. Later in the evening, drive to the river bank of Ganga and embark on a private boat to witness the aarti ceremony followed by observing cremation. Aarti is a Hindu ritual in which light is offered to one or more deities. Aarti also refers to the songs sung in praise of the deity while offering lamps. Hindus in India worship the river Ganges as a goddess.
Every evening in Varanasi, aarti is performed at the Dashashwamedh ghat. We can watch it from the ghat or from the waterside in a boat. It is a beautiful, resonant, and majestic spectacle with a very precise choreography involving rituals performed by several priests with the sound of bells, drums, cymbals, and Sanskrit mantras. The river is also worshipped with flower petals. After this, you will return to the hotel, and the services will end here.
Your tour concludes here, and your driver will drop you off at the Varanasi airport, Varanasi Railway Station, or your hotel in Varanasi.
